01Furniture: lift, never drag. Pad every leg.
  • Install felt pads on all furniture legs.
  • Check the pads periodically and replace them when worn or dirty.
  • Never drag furniture across the floor.
  • Use rubber protectors under couch and bed legs, especially pieces you move often.
02Area rugs: let the finish fully cure first
  • Wait three weeks before laying rugs, so the finish fully cures underneath.
  • Rugs can cause uneven color over time. Sunlight ages exposed wood differently than covered areas, so lift and rotate them now and then.
03Shoes & grit: a hardwood floor's worst enemy
  • Avoid wearing shoes indoors whenever possible.
  • Encourage family and guests to slip them off at the door.
  • Place quality mats at every entrance to catch grit before it reaches the wood.

When can we walk on it?
